As the spring thaw comes to an end and the weather gets warmer, everyone is thinking about outdoor adventures.
Whether you’re hitting the neighbourhood trails or planning a wilderness expedition to a provincial park, the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is offering practical tips on how to enjoy nature responsibly with the Outdoor Fun, No Damage Done campaign.
Spokesperson Andrew Holland says a free webinar will take place on Wednesday. Three panelists will offer tips on the best ways to enjoy nature without damaging the ecosystem and species native to the region, as well as answer any questions.
- Samantha Ceci, conservation biologist, Nature Conservancy of Canada – Atlantic Provinces
- Marie-Helene Brisson, director of visitor experiences, Parks Canada
- Richard Vinson, chair and partnerships director, Leave No Trace
The seven principles of leaving no trace are:
- Plan ahead and prepare
- Travel and camp on durable surfaces
- Dispose of waste properly
- Leave what you find
- Minimize campfire impact
- Respect wildlife
- Be considerate of other visitors
The webinar will take place at 6:30 p.m. Atlantic Time/5:30 p.m. Eastern Time/4:30 p.m. Central Time. It is free to participate in.
